Challenge
Conduct an internal and external analysis of the Montrachet Brand, and the larger goat cheese category, amid increasingly-crowded competition in the foodservice market.
Provide a 360-degree, outsider's perspective on not only internal business dealings like production, distribution, pricing, packaging, sales, marketing, and R&D, but also external dealings like competition, market conditions, beliefs of users, distributors, and brokers.
Approach
Internal: Study internal sales data, financials, and conduct interviews with key personnel inside the organization, including leaders in the plant and in the business unit.
External: Conduct in-depth interviews with key brokers, distributors, and end-users.
Analyze product cutting, package assessment, labels, and review external research on goat cheese market trends.
Results:
Research led to a robust action plan that consolidated all efforts under one brand, Montrachet, for management of manufacturing in order to expand the brand name.
